Job Description

As a Customs Specialist within the Global Business Services (GBS) Finance team, you will support customs compliance activities mainly for Germany. This hands-on role focuses on ensuring accurate and compliant import and export declarations in line with local regulations and corporate standards.

You will work closely with local markets, internal stakeholders, and customs brokers, support audits and ad hoc activities, and contribute to process improvements, automation, and standardization across the customs and statutory landscape.

Key responsibilities

  • Review import and export customs declarations prepared internally or by third parties.
  • Calculate and validate customs duties and arrange payments.
  • Maintain and review customs-related master data (e.g. HS codes, origin).
  • Request and archive proofs of origin and support broker oversight.
  • Support local finance teams with customs audits and ad hoc projects.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and implement required updates.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and the local customs manager to ensure full compliance.
  • Contribute to automation and continuous improvement initiatives within GBS.

Qualifications

  • Completed commercial training, preferably as freight forwarding agent, logistics agent, or foreign trade agent
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in the areas of customs and  logistics in an industrial company or a freight forwarding company
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office
  • Good knowledge of SAP
  • Very good English skills, German language skills are an advantage
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a cross-functional, multicultural team environment.
